Kali Puja Experiences
Please tell us if you've worked the ritual, elaborated upon it or altered it to suit your own needs, and how it all went. We'd love to hear from you!

Kali Puja was performed by Chandra Alexandre and Sharanya [at PantheaCon 2008]. She was a very charismatic speaker and the ritual was done so beautifully, the altar was magnificent!

I recently co-facilitated an adapted version of Chandra's Kali
Puja Liturgy as a public ritual in the Los Angeles
area. Sponsored by the non-profit, Isis Ancient Cultures and Religion Society, this public puja was one of our
Monthly Moon Circle series, held a few days before the November Dark moon. I was assisted by 3 fabulous priestesses, Dion-Isis, Stefanya Ebony and Joni Abbetacola, my official 'Ma's Little Helpers.'
Approximately 25 goddess loving participants arrived at the shrine we set up inside a private studio used for meditation. The group was diverse, coming from many different pagan and spiritual paths, but everyone wanted to know more about our beautiful Kali Ma and to praise her. The mood was both reverent and joyous. Everyone enjoyed chanting Jai Jai Ma! and creating the Yantra together--something most had never done before. I think what was especially poignant for the group was the private time they got to spend up at the altar offering their flowers and petitions while a beautiful Kirtan was sung. Ma up on the altar looked gorgeous--the candle light glistened on her black skin and her eyes seem to watch us approvingly. Afterwards, I was both peaceful and elated--I couldn't help hugging folks! The smell of sweet incense, tobacco and Lotus oil stayed with me for days after, reminding me of this truly uplifting experience.
What I appreciate the most about Chandra's online ritual is that is blends both Eastern and Western practice. I had been wanting to present Kali in a group setting for a long time--to show others why it is I love her so much. Yet, I wasn't sure how to proceed. Like most things in life, this is where Ma steps in and give one a friendly boot in the right direction. I don't think it was chance that I came across the Maa Batakali site, right when I was being prompted to facilitate a circle on my own. I believe that this ritual was successful in that I received positive feedback from both seasoned Kali devotees and those just discovering Her. At the same time it allowed me to move deeper in my personal relationship with Ma and for that I feel especially blessed.

I was very excited to be a part of the recent IACRS Kali Puja. It was the first time I had participated in a Hindu-based ritual, and the fact that we had Chandra's liturgy to present made it all extremely meaningful for me. I enjoyed being one of 'Ma's little helpers' and decorating the Shiva altar. I am glad that Nyx brought me into Kali's fold!
Om Namah Shivaya,
